To Wyoming
I solo roadtripped up to southern Wyoming in the summer of 2023. Did a few amazing hikes and spent a lot of time with my thoughts :).
Part 1: Northern New Mexico
First I stopped near Santa Fe, camped, and did a fun hike (right).
The next day I drove a bit north and hiked to the highest point in NM, Wheeler Peak (below). Great hike with awesome views and I got to see some wildlife at the top!
Part 2: Colorado
Initially I planned to hike a mountain in southern Colorado, but the weather was bad so I simply drove all the way through CO in one day! With a couple stops along the way, of course.
Part 3: Wyoming
Arriving in WY, I stayed in Medicine Bow-Routt National Forest. The drive in was amazingly scenic, and I saw a Moose! I was able to witness a meteor shower that night (or maybe the second night there, idk), and in the isolation of Wyoming it was beautiful.
I hiked to Medicine Bow Peak in the early morning, before sunrise, and then was able to catch the sun lighting up the mountain ridge over the course of half an hour. I was somehow completely alone on the peak, making the experience quite surreal.
Part 4: Strokes and Home
After Wyoming, I drove down through Boulder, CO to Denver, where I picked up Auva from the airport and we saw the Strokes (!!!) at Red Rocks (!!!). They certainly redeemed their last performance, we were blown away. Auva and I camped nearby, then I drove pretty much straight home from Denver after dropping her off at the airport the next day!
