The Batman
Directed by Matt Reeves (2022)
This movie is way too long! Maybe if I had watched it in theaters it'd be different, but watching alone in my living room was not it. It'd be different if it was three hours of interesting dialogue and fun action, but instead it is mostly Batman walking slowly through darkness, or grunting in response to someone's question. I was looking forward to this iteration of the Batman because of all the praise I'd heard, but for me, Nolan and Bale's Batman is still the best.
Adding to the sludge pace was an unsatisfying climax. I won't spoil it, so I'll just say it didn't align with the rest of the theme, in my opinion. Another issue I has was Batman's invincibility. That dude takes some hits!!! I'm down to suspend disbelief for superhero movies of course, but this movie took it too far for what was supposed to be a more grounded hero.
It wasn't all bad, but I'd rather save my time and rewatch the Dark Knight...
