Porco Rosso

Directed by Hayao Miyazaki (1992)

An absolutely visually stunning film. Every frame of this movie would be a piece of artwork I'd love to have on my wall.

Some of the dialogue was possibly sexist, and definitely dated, and this Studio Ghibli piece was clearly intended for a more mature audience than others I've seen. I have to say it took me out of it a bit, and I prefer the more child-friendly tone of movies like Castle in the Sky. Not that other Ghibli films don't have intense themes or scary moments - not at all. Porco Rosso was just a bit sleazy in it's delivery at times. Overall, however, still another great product from Miyazaki.
