The Notebook

Directed by Nick Cassavetes (2004)

After years of having this movie recommended to me and hearing about it in popular culture, Auva finally convinced me to watch it. It's cute, a bit sad, and mostly fun throughout. The main characters, played by Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams, have amazing chemistry and are drop-dead gorgeous, which alone makes this movie worth watching. I don't necessarily think it lived up to the hype though, as I was expecting something even more romantic and sad than what I got. I don't know, I don't want to spoil anything but the characters were questionably moral (at the beginning, Gosling's character is the epitome of cute vs. creepy) and the aspect that was the saddest wasn't really the movie, just the premise. Still though, it was a good late-night cuddle movie for sure. (01/30/21)
