Old

Directed by M. Night Shyamalan (2021)

I feel like movies directed by M. Night Shyamalan have a certain connotation as having huge explosions or ridiculous twists - Old, despite its insanity at times was a good thriller with some interesting psychological horror moments. The premise is wacky: some people on vacation end up on a beach where time moves much faster. Craziness follows and we get to see the ungodly effects of children aging 13 years in a day or diseases rapidly worsening. As the characters begin to understand what is happening to them, panic spreads throughout the group. Honestly, I thought there was less panic than what would be realistic; if I was in that situation my mind would implode, I wouldn't know how to process it. The characters in the movie do pretty well all things considered. This isn't a mind-bender or emotional rollercoaster or epic drama but it does what it sets out to do in creating a creating a freaky situation and following it to some interesting events.

Overall: recommend.
