50 First Dates
Directed by Peter Segal (2004)
Honestly, I expected this movie to be better. I had heard about it so many times, and Adam Sandler does have his fair share of quality flicks (eg Click). But do not be fooled - this movie is not good. To no surprise, the dialogue is 100% cheese. The comedic relief is forced, certainly outdated, and generally unnecessary … 50 First Dates is already a comedy in merely its premise, so why do we need random scenes added in for relief? The romance is weird and slightly uncomfortable (although that's probably the point), but the movie does have its "aww" moments. Don't get me wrong, this movie is undeniably a bad movie, but that's not to say I didn't enjoy it. Auva and I certainly laughed, smiled, and cuddled, and sometimes that is all you can ask for in a film. (01/16/21)
