Philip and Alexander: Kings and Conquerors

By Adrian Goldsworthy (2020)

I'm writing over a year later, but from my (admittedly poor) memory this book was supremely engaging. As most westerners, I grew up hearing of "Alexander the Great" while knowing little of his actual deeds and certainly not of his rise to power, or the predominance of his father Philip. This book covers the whole story in detail - there isn't much about Alexander you won't know after reading.
